My second novel has come back requiring some revisions; so publishing it will be delayed for a while. In the meantime, my first novel continues to do well. Good reviews; although not everyone agrees with the sentiment expressed by some characters in the book that standardized testing scores: -
• do not fully represent what students know,
• are misleading when used for accountability purposes and judging a school as low to high performing,
• and can narrow the curriculum.
But then again, some characters had the opposite point of view. So, could a balanced approach to education be found? That is the underlying theme of the book and why I think the story is relevant today. And in the end, it is still a good old-fashioned love story!
